I can’t believe it. I usually write everyday and have done so since July 4th. What’s even more baffling is that I had time to squeeze in a few hundred words, but I was too tired to do so.
Yesterday, I woke up after a fitful night of sleep and a partially traumatizing dream. After picking my friend up from her class since the bus schedule is awful on the weekends, I took her home and hung out with her family for a few hours before I left to hang out with my own family.
I didn’t get home until around 10pm. Since I have no air conditioning, I aired out my apartment and watched some YouTube videos until 2:30pm.
However, I did come up with a pretty cool thriller-action-comedy short story that I want to write. Someone on Tumblr made a suicidal meme (a meme where a person jokes about some situation where the consequence of an action is death and how they would happily do that action on the off chance that they’ll be killed, fucked up coping mechanism I know), but then my mind took the idea and ran with it. It was referring to a bank robber situation where the bank robber threatened to kill anyone who moved, and a suicidal person would start flailing wildly. I wondered what the bank robber would do in a situation. Then it spiraled into this elaborate scheme and now I have an interesting story idea.
So I typed up that idea, but it was only two paragraphs. Better than nothing, I guess.
Anyway, it was nice to take a break from writing and give my brain a break for the first Saturday in months. Here’s hoping that I can rework my schedule again to account for the lost writing time.
Much love, Dana Kenzi 🙂
