Book Review: Houseguests 1: Our Taboo Memories by Cheri Verset

Guess who finally got around to doing a Book Review?

Okay, so first I need to tell you that Cheri Verset is one of my favorite erotica authors.  She can write from a variety of viewpoints, and she has a huge library of books to fill your every desire, fantasy, or kink.  I have so many favorites from her that I can’t possibly list them all.

Today, I will be reviewing her book Houseguests 1: Our Taboo Memories.  I love the Houseguest series, and I’ll be doing reviews of the other two books as well.  She did not ask me to a book review for her.  I am doing this of my own volition and because I’m a huge fan girl.

Warning: Story contains pseudo-incest (PI).

Houseguests 1: Our Taboo Memories

Houseguests 1: Our Taboo Memories by [Verset, Cheri]

So, it starts off with the main character, Dana, who is tipsy and being helped into her house by her step-brother, Willis.  He’s in town for their high school reunion, and they spend the night reminiscing about their secret sexual relationship back when they were younger.

Willis took Dana’s virginity when she was 18, and they spent the rest of the summer fucking until they had to go to college.  They messed around a few times after that, but it hadn’t been anything substantial until now.

Dana even teases him by talking about how sexy her 18-year-old adopted daughter, Blair, is.  They get riled up looking at her and talking about her, and they go out to the backyard gazebo to fool around.

They end up fucking on a swing, and it’s full of sweet moments of Dana remembering past sexcapades with Willis, and both of them reassuring their desire for the other.  Afterwards, they have an intimate moment where they cuddle and talk.

Then Dana gets this brilliant idea that Willis should deflower her daughter, Blair.  Willis is shocked but eventually agrees to it.  Dana also reveals that she’s been screwing Blair and that she thinks Willis is the perfect guy to introduce her daughter to sex with a man.

The next day, Dana wakes Blair up and they have sex.  Then she asks Blair if she’s willing to let her Uncle Willis take her virginity.  Afterwards, Blair agrees to it since she trusts her mother judgment.  The story ends with Willis returning to the house, and Dana asks him if he wants to fuck Blair right now.

Review:  3.5/5 stars

This particular story is just okay to me.  It’s a good setup to the following stories in the series, but there was nothing that really wowed me the first time I read it.  In fact, I think I might have bought the second book first because it sounded more interesting.

Rereading it, my opinion hasn’t really changed.  I found the sex scene between Dana and Blair to be hotter than the one between Dana and Willis.  Maybe it’s the whole pseudo-parent kink that makes it more interesting.  Step-siblings is really not my thing even though I write it occasionally.  I much prefer writing and reading step-parent stories, since it plays nicely with power imbalances.  In the sex scenes, the characters sometimes refer to their lover by the familial title, which I always love to read in PI stories.

I do remember that the first time I read it, the sexual relationship between Dana and Blair shocked the hell out of me.  I had not been expecting it at all, but it opened my eyes to numerous PI combinations for future stories.

I would recommend this story for people interested in reading the whole series, since it gives you some back story.  Cheri Verset is a queen when it comes pseudo-incest, and I suggest you check out her other stories as well.

  1. Thank you very much for the review!

I agree that the first story leaves out the best parts, but I had to set it up for the family extravaganza that came next 😉

    1. I woke up this morning and checked my email on my phone. I skimmed the comment before I read who wrote it and was like, “Oh cool, someone purchased and read her book, who wrote the comment-” followed by a pterodactyl screech.

I love the second and third books, and those will be my next two reviews. You’re an awesome writer!
